The Fresno PAL Youth Leadership Council is a nationally recognized program designed to develop leadership among junior and high school students.  The key component to this exciting program is that our youth foster a genuine concern for their community and are encouraged to take an active role in the needs of our city.  YLC youth attend High Schools throughout the City of Fresno; the common goal of these outstanding youth is that they all share in the desire to "make their mark on the community" which has become our YLC motto. The YLC program consists of a Board of Directors and members that are encouraged to make their own decisions on whom the members will be and what community projects they are involved in.  YLC participants are required to volunteer 6 hours a month, maintain a 2.5 GPA, and are held to a very high standard at all times. Many of our YLC participants are involved in extracurricular activities that range from sports to other academic opportunities. The YLC have adopted the Senior Citizen housing area as their main community project. They take considerable pride in what they have accomplished with the “Senior Citizen’s Village.” They assist seniors with yard work, lifting heavy objects, and washing windows.  In January 2006, theYLC initiated "Senior Movie Night".This event has become so popular, that the YLC has chosen to make many of the movie nights into a “theme” evening.   Currently, we have 25 youth enrolled in this program. This program is coordinated by CSO Diane Escareño.
